Summer is a wonderful time for students to engage in SSL opportunities and earn SSL hours towards meeting the 75-hour state graduation requirement!Middle school and high school students should continue earning SSL hours towards their SSL graduation requirement by engaging in SSL opportunities during the summer, including traditional in-person opportunities and select virtual/remote opportunities that follow the guidelines posted on the MCPS SSL webpage (www.mcps-ssl.org).Current fifth-grade students may begin participating in SSL opportunities starting June 19, 2026!Additional updates and information about the MCPS SSL program are provided below:NEW! There are many SSL opportunities available to students during the month of June!
- The 2025-2026 MCPS Student Expectations Lessons are available on Canvas for students to access. Students must fully complete both modules to earn 3 SSL hours.
- ELO Summer Program Student Volunteers (July 7 to July 30, 2026) - The Division of Title 1 is excited to announce the return of student volunteers for the 2026 ELO Summer Programs. Information regarding the volunteer registration process for each specific school site is available at this link.
- 2026 ASIRT & MCR PSA Contest (Deadline: October 4, 2026) - The Association for Safe International Road Travel (ASIRT) and the Montgomery County Regional Student Government Association (MCR) are sponsoring a Public Service Announcement (PSA) competition focused on road safety and how to keep yourself and others safe on the roads. Middle school and high school participants who submit a quality PSA that meets the competition requirements will earn 10 SSL hours and have a chance to win an Amazon gift card.
