Goals:
Health Education is a nine week course which is part of the Physical Education rotation. The overall goal of this course is that by the end of the nine weeks students will have increased knowledge of health and will know what can be done to prevent health problems and make healthy choices.
As students explore many topics in health, they also build skills in communication, critical thinking, decision making, stress management, goal setting and resistance to pressure. This course not only provides information, but it encourages students to develop personal and social skills and positive attitudes about health.
Each grade level will cover seven units of study including:
• Mental Health
• Safety and Injury Prevention
• Personal and Consumer Health
• Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs
• Nutrition and Fitness
• Family Life and Human Sexuality
