Highland View ES-Professional Development-August 22, 2011
Highland View Pre-Service Days
Refreshed from summer vacation, the Highland View staff and faculty eagerly returned to begin a new school year.
Ms. Dardarian and Ms. Parker welcomed the staff. Teachers prepared their rooms, planned together, and spent several days participating in professional development activities.
Ms. Dardarian and several members from the School Improvement team (SIT) shared the outcomes from their meetings. This group met several times over the summer. The SIT's mission is to provide the support and structure necessary to create an effective school learning community where decisions are made in the best interest of students' learning and achievement.
Ms. Dardarian shared our latest testing data. We celebrated our students' success and highlighted areas in which we need to improve. We used this opportunity to begin discussions about ways to ensure progress for all of our students.
Dr. Jones and members of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) team proudly reported that our school received state recognition. Dr. Joned proudly displays our Silver banner.
Also, Ms. Harris, our PTA president shared a variety of ways the PTA plans to support student learning and teacher requests throughout the year.
We are looking forward to another great year of learning at Highland View!
