Welcome!

clipArtI am very excited to be the School Counselor at Greenwood Elementary School. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year working with you and your Gator!

School counselors focus on the varying social, emotional, academic, career awareness, and health needs of students in the school. We work collaboratively with parents, teachers, administrators, and community agencies to help students achieve their best.

The Greenwood Elementary School Counseling Program includes services that fall into these three categories:

  1. Guidance/Counseling Curriculum- MCPS (K-5): Four components make up the guidance/counseling curriculum: Personal & Social Development, Academic Development, Career Development, and Health. These components are delivered through classroom counseling lessons and small group activities.
  2. Individual Counseling: Through this service, counselors help students with goal-setting, academic, social, and emotional issues on an individual basis.
  3. Responsive Counseling: These services are delivered as needed, and address immediate or urgent needs of students, groups or families, usually necessitated by life events or situations in the students’ lives.

Students can refer themselves to see me or be referred by a teacher or parent. Students can find self-referral forms in their classrooms or also on my office door.
