A Message from Leah Montas, PTA President

Hello! I hope you have enjoyed your summer.

For those of you who don’t know me, I am Leah Montas, the PTA President. My daughter, Presley, is going into the 2nd grade and my son Jack, in starting Kindergarten.  Some of you may already know my husband, Mr. Montas, who is a 6th grade teacher at Forest Oak Middle School.

Goshen is going green! This is our summer letter that you would have received in the mail. We hope to use less paper this year and have fundraisers with recyclable items.

New this year we have asked a few parents to be grade level liaisons. This way a parent whose child just left a grade level can be available for guidance for parents whose children are just entering that grade. We hope this is a helpful asset as well as a way to foster strong relationships within our community.

The PTA is excited to sponsor at least five cultural arts assemblies this year for all of our students to enjoy! We are also happy to provide a subscription to Scholastic News magazine for every single Goshen student. We also have many exciting events planned for the year including Outdoor Movie Night, Heritage Night, Sock Hop, Grizzly Chase, Read Aloud Day and the Talent Show. But we need your help to do so! Please remember to join the PTA, volunteer and participate in fundraisers when you can. Every little bit helps!

Goshen and the PTA are always in need of volunteers. Every hour makes a huge difference and we have varying opportunities to fit every lifestyle and interest. Please see the PTA volunteer opportunities list and see if there is something you might be interested in helping with. I encourage you to ask your child’s teacher about volunteering in their classroom. Also, an extra hand is always appreciated at lunch and recess.

Fall is quickly approaching, and we already have exciting events lined up. Come out to our first PTA meeting of the year on September 6th at 7pm in the Goshen Media Center.  PTA meetings are a great way to stay informed about everything Goshen. We are looking forward to getting to know everyone better and encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas with us throughout the coming year.

Please plan on joining us for our annual Back-to-School picnic on Sept. 1 from 5-730. You can bring your own basket of food or there will also be food available for purchase.

As you can tell, the Goshen PTA has A LOT of events and opportunities to contribute to your child’s success in elementary school. The PTA E-Group is a wonderful way to get the latest information on Goshen and PTA activities delivered directly to your email; and a great way to stay in touch with other Goshen families!  We strongly encourage the use of electronic communication as a way to create a sense of community with Goshen staff and parents. Note we do NOT share your information with other organizations; all communication in the E-Group is about Goshen! To sign up, send an email to:  goshenpta-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Enjoy the rest of the summer and we’ll see you in August!
