Dear parents,

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART is back at Germantown Elementary for the 16th year in a row!  Jump Rope for Heart is a fundraiser sponsored by the American Heart Association to help people with unhealthy hearts.  The money raised is used  to research new medicines, start new programs, and even educate people on how to keep a healthy heart.  In the last fifteen years, GES students have raised and donated over $51,000 to the AHA.

Your child has brought home a permission slip that they will need to return if they would like to participate in JRFH.  It is a voluntary program; those that do sign up will come to the gym from 10 to 11:30 am on November 25, the day before Thanksgiving, and have a Jump Rope Party.  It is a very worthwhile program where the students can be a "HEART HERO" and help others with unhealthy hearts.  Sign-up will continue through November 18th.

You may register for donations online by going to the Jump Rope for Heart website and clicking on the "Be A Heart Hero" link.  You may want to take some time to navigate around the website with your child.

I also invite you to take a look at this video that the American Heart Association has created to help students and parents know a little bit more about Jump Rope for Heart.  I highly recommend you watch; it is entertaining and informative.

If you have any questions, feel free to call Jeff Burdette (PE Teacher) at school (301-353-8050) or e-mail me at Jeffery_W_Burdette@mcpsmd.org.  I am at Germantown on Wednesdays through Fridays.

Thank you.
