The GHS Chamber Singers (along with 11 Chamber Singers alumni) sang an hour of a cappella music at the Illinois State Society’s Inaugural Ball on January 19th at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The group was invited to submit an audition CD last spring and was selected in May to perform. Students performed 16 selections during the event.

Performances from District II Choral Festivals, Spring 2008

]The Choral Music department at GHS has had a fantastic Spring Festival season! All of our ensembles have participated in the District II Choral Festivals over the last month. These festivals are adjudicated by a panel of judges who are highly regarded in the field of choral/vocal music.
The Concert Chorus earned a rating of "Excellent," which is considered equivalent to a 90-95% on an exam! Both the Women's Ensemble and the Chamber Singers earned a rating of "Superior," which is considered equivalent to a 95-100% on an exam, and this rating qualifies both groups to participate in the Maryland State Choral Festival, to be held at Morgan State University in Baltimore on May 1 and 2, 2008. This is the second year in a row that Women's Ensemble and Chamber Singers have achieved at the highest level!
