Assignment Objectives
The student will use Media Center resources, print and nonprint, to research abnormal psychological disorders. The disorder is to be defined and classified into one of the following categories: cognitive, psychotic, mood, anxiety, dissociative, and/or somatoform. The symptoms and effects of the disorder are to be explained. The treatment and/or cure are to be discussed. This information is to be included in a poster or other visual aide used to accompany a brief, oral presentation on the disorder chosen. See the list below, or see your teacher for approval to select another disorder not on the list:

From the GHS home page, click on Media Center, then on "Online Resources." The databases are listed in alphabetical order. Passwords for home use are available on a yellow sheet in the Media Center, and on Edline, under News.
Search Tips:
- Note that, in any database or with any search engine, you should wrap quotes around any two or more search terms or keywords in order to "grab up" the phrase for searching.
- Always check the number of "hits" you search finds. If it is over a hundred be sure to go back and limit your search more.

- Click on Proceed. Choose the Gale Virtual Reference Library. Click on "Show All" and scroll down to "Social Science", then search in the sets -- The Gale Encyclopedia of Psychology, or the Psychologists and their Theories for Students.
