START EARLY! YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR ESSAY COMPETITION sponsored by the Rockville Chamber of Commerce which will provide small grants for high school and post secondary students with entrepreneurial spirits in Montgomery County.  The competition is designed to groom tomorrow's entrepreneurs today.  Students will be required to submit an essay for a business they would love to start and how they would get the appropriate market to purchase their products and/or services.  The essays must be no longer than two-pages in length.  The essay's will be judged on originality, presentation, entrepreneurial vision and expression of ideas.  Awards will be given in the following amounts:  First Place - $500; Second Place - $100; Third Place - $75.  Winners will be announced at the Chamber's Eighth  Annual Women in Business Conference & Tradeshow on Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Montgomery County Conference Center.   The deadline for the contest is MARCH 2.  All entries can be submitted via e-mail to:  Rockville@rockvillechamber.org with "STARTEARLY! ANNOUNCING THE W.E.B. Boyz2Men Program sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Iota Upsilon Lambda Chapter - Boyz2Men is an academic and leadership program for 8th and 9th grade students.  The program is held on Saturdays from 9 AM to 12 PM at the Smithville School and Museum on 811 East Randolph Road, Silver Spring, Maryland  20904.  Boyz2Men will use the history of the African-American Civil Rights struggle, from colonial times to the present day, to reinforce the MCPS 8th and 9th grade social studies curriculum.  The program is designed to enhance speaking, writing, and analytical skills.  Students will also learn computer literacy and chess.  Taught by Howard University Law Professor Harold McDougall, students are welcome to join at any time.  Students should  bring their most recent copy of their report card.  For more information, email Prof. McDougall directly at hmleems@yahoo.com.

Effective July 1, 2006 the SAT Preparation Program that has been administered by the Montgomery County Public Schools Adult Education Office for the past 25 years will transition to Montgomery College. It will be administered by the Workforce Development & Continuing Education office. The curriculum and design of the program will continue as before. Montgomery College will maintain current course locations in various MCPS high schools.
