Chesapeake Connections: Mr. Beaver's Scrapbook

Mr. Beaver Goes to Smith Island

Hello!! I am Mr. Beaver. Yes...THE Mr. Beaver. I am the conservation expert and spokesman for the STREAM TEAM at Forest Oak Middle School. I have been here informing students on how to save the Chesapeake Bay and make a smashing beef stew. I recently went to Smith Island in the Chesapeake with a group of Flying Squirrels (students on the team 8-2). They got to see the bay first hand and how what they do at home impacts it. Here at home I am a regular guest on the morning announcements and I have my own infomercials informing all on the wonderful BAY!!

Here I am at the Crisfield dock with my friends getting ready to go to Smith Island. Crisfield used to be the Seafood Capital of the World, back when the bay was full of oysters, crabs and fish.
Here I am getting ready to board the luxurious Captain Jason II. I am a bit drowsy from the drive over, but we are all so excited to be trecking out to the bay haven, Smith Island. We will be heading out soon!!
We are on our way!! I feel like a doggy sticking my head out in the wind as I fly across the waters of the Bay. It will not be long now...but I just hope that I don't get sea sick.... There's Smith Island in the background. Are those trees?!?!?! How can I resist the urge?
Hey there, here I am with my lady friends. Heading out of Crisfield. Don't worry, I will keep you safe ladies. You can always rely on a big buff beaver. We are all ready to go ahead and get there. I hope it's not too choppy. You know, beavers do get sea sick.
