Chesapeake Connections: Mr. Beaver's Scrapbook

Goodbye to Smith Island

There we go...Hey this is the mail slot where you put letters that you are sending out. There is one post office and the post master makes his rounds on a moped. I am just sending a letter back home to tell them how great it is here.

This is my GREAT friend Captian Denny. We really bonded on our trip. He knows so much about being a waterman and the Chesapeake Bay. It was really hard to leave my friend Denny, but I will be back to visit this summer.
I don't know what I would do without my friends here. It is so sad leaving Smith, but I am getting support. The water is a little choppy...is that just sadness or seasickness?
There is no better way to ease your woes than to have a good drink with the guys. Yea it's rough, but we can go back home and tell everyone what we learned. Spreading the knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay and how to save it is the real point.
AHHHH. It's been a pretty tiring weekend. I am going straight to sleep when I get home! Man, running in the marsh, crabbing, canoeing and exploring really wears you out!
Wow, I really like this hat. Hey Brad, you don't mind if I keep it do you? I think that the Beaver ladies would really dig it.
Well I hope that you enjoyed learning about our wonderful experience at Smith Island and maybe learned a thing or two. I know that I had a great time and I can't wait to get back out there with Captian Denny, Davey and Ken.
