Forest Oak Middle is now a bay school!!! Forest Oak Middle School began our "Special Emphasis Program" this year utilizing the environment as a school-wide instructional theme. Forest Oak was selected to be one of the nine Bay Schools that works with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The major goals of the Bay Schools Program include incresing academic achievement, improving student behavior, increasing environmental awareness, and promoting environmental stewardship. We are using the school yard and surrounding areas as contexts for learning. Students participate in field studies in the school yard, streams, wetlands, ponds, meadows, and forested areas on and near the school property. We emphasize personal responsibility and stewardship as we interact with the environment in these natural areas.
