Day 1 Agenda

Introduction of the Webquest: A basic overview of the objectives, the agenda, and computer lab rules.

Objectives:

By the end of the Webquest students will be able to:

  • demonstrate an understanding of a controversial aspect of the Chesapeake Bay
  • demonstrate internet research abilities
  • create a persuasive statement of their opinion about an environmental issue based on research and debate about that issue

Agenda:

Day 1

  • Students will work as a class to generate a basis of Chesapeake Bay knowledge.
  • Students will view objectives, agenda, rules of the lab, and rubric.
  • Students will be broken up into expert groups
  1. habitat

  2. species

  3. resource

  4. stresses

  • Students will then be jigsawed into debate groups with one representative from each expert field in each debate group.

  • Students will receive computer lab seating assignments and go to the lab to physically see where they will sit for the entire Webquest.

  • Students will write their group name, computer #, and the objectives on a note card which will be kept for the next day.
