Day 5

Persuasive Writing Day: Students will work individually writing a letter to the Governor of Maryland in an effort to persuade him that to agree with their opinions of what needs to be done with the Bay.

Objectives:

By the end of the Webquest students will be able to:

  • demonstrate an understanding of a controversial aspect of the Bay

  • demonstrate internet research abilities

  • create a persuasive statement of their opinion about an environmental issue based on research and debate about the issue

Agenda:

Day 5

  • Students will work individually to write a rough draft of a business style letter the will send to the Governor of Maryland.
  • Students will peer edit each others letters according to the rubric.
  • Students will write a revision of the business letter.  The revision will be turned into the teacher for grading.
