The term "minnow" is a word that people use to describe small fish. There are about 101 different species of minnows that live in North America. The type of minnows that we caught in our pond usually grow to be about 25 mm(1 inch). Minnows are not used for human food however they are very important. They are an important part of the food web. They eat aquatic insects and are food for larger fish.
