 Dragonfly

(Enellagama ebrium)

The dragonfly is often seen near ponds. The dragonfly is also known as darning needles. They are usually black or brown. They are about 2 inches in size. The dragonfly is a predatory insect. They eat insects that are smaller than they are. They eat mosquitoes. They catch their food by flying very fast and swooping down to catch other bugs as they fly past. Dragonflies fly up to 30 miles per hour. Dragonflies lay their eggs in the water.
