go to the next page. Ms. Abita's students, after studying the
medieval time period in world studies, researched the history of the nursery
rhyme "Ring Around the Rosie" on the internet, tracing its origins
back to the Black Plague. Students also read several "new" nursery rhymes
that depicted the current history. Students were also taught the eight
different types of nursery rhymes.
In small groups, students created an original nursery
rhyme that depicted medieval history, including a paragraph or two that
described the history of their rhymes. After completing the nursery rhyme,
the small groups created a web page WITHOUT a template that included their
nursery rhyme, the history behind the rhyme, an illustration of their
rhyme (which groups scanned in themselves), an illuminated letter
(the first letter of the rhyme is larger as done in medieval times),
and a picture of the group after they performed their rhyme at the Medieval
Banquet we staged on November 24, 1997. Hope you enjoy these web pages!
