Overview:
Physical Education is instruction that combines physical, social and emotion wellness and refinement over the school years of kindergarten through grade 12. The goal of a quality physical education program is for the student to discover a variety of activities that can be used over the lifespan and a the same time giving the student a chance to experience traditional, non-traditional and cross-cultural activities so that understanding and appreciation are possible for each individual.

The physical education program concentrates on: Cardiovascular and Muscular endurance and strength, Individual Skill Development, Team Skills Development (communication, teamwork, cooperation,) Stress Reduction/Outlets, Self-esteem, Self-confidence, Self-concept, Goal Setting, Collaboration of other subject areas, Self Discipline and Making Healthy Judgments, Alternatives to traditional sports and benefits of regular healthful physical activities

Student Assessment:

Students are assessed individually on achievement of skills. Since individual skill level varies, the students are given rubrics, directions and cues to follow in order to achieve the highest possible grade.
