Downcounty Consortium - Enrollment Information

Enrollment in the Downcounty Consortium

  • Current 8th grade students who move into the Downcounty Consortium area during the 2007-2008 school year should contact the local middle school to enroll. The middle school counselor will provide high school choice information and a selection form to each new student. Completed choice forms should be returned to the middle school counselor.
  • Current 8th grade private school students who live within the Downcounty Consortium area should contact the Division of Consortia Choice and Application Services (DCCAPS) at 301-592-2040 to schedule an appointment to meet with the registrar.
  • Parents of current students in Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, new to Montgomery County, must call DCCAPS at 301-592-2040 to schedule an appointment for enrollment. After enrollment and selection of a school, the student is directed to her/his school of choice to complete course registration.
  • Parents of current students in Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, currently attending an MCPS school and recently moved into the Consortium attendance area, must follow the same procedure outlined above in paragragh #1 for students new to the county.

Due to staffing and other resource requirements, students enrolling after the first day of school are assigned to their base area school. In March of each school year, students have the opportunity to go through the choice process and request assignment to a different school for the following year.

Documents Necessary for Enrollment in the Downcounty Consortium

  • Parents must accompany their child(ren) to complete the enrollment process. The following documents must be presented at the time of enrollment:
    • Student's Birth Certificate with parent name, Immunization Record, Social Security Number
    • Proof of residency (most recent Consolidated Tax Bill or current lease and a current utility bill)
    • New home: signed settlement papers
    • Shared housing: Notarized Shared Housing Disclosure form; copy of the property owner's Consolidated Tax Bill or Lease agreement, and three documents with the parent/guardian name and the address of the shared housing location (cell phone bill, bank statement, pay stub, etc.)
    • Student transcript and withdrawal papers from previous school.
Additional documents are accessible from the MCPS Enrollment site.

Information about Choice

Parent Information Meetings are held at DCC high school locations in October. The information delivered at each site and time is identical so parents can choose to attend the meeting that best suits their schedule. Consortium staff and the Academy Coordinators from each school explain the Choice process, timeline and the academy programs available at each school.

Learn about the choice process and the academy programs of the five Downcounty Consortium high schools, through the DCC web site.
