LAST DAY FOR THE ACTIVITY BUS – the last day for the activity bus is Thursday, June 1, 2017.
YEARBOOK – Hey you guys and gals! Did you purchase a yearbook? Pick up is at lunch this week in room 147 (in the art hallway). Cash/Cashier check only.

SENIORS – who were unable to attend the awards ceremony, certificates are available for pick up in the main office.
SENIORS -- Any seniors that have not picked up cap and gowns, graduation tickets and graduation announcements (if you ordered them), can do so from Mrs. Stultz in room 155A. Please make sure all financial obligations have been cleared with the business office.
SENIOR PORTRAIT DATES – Information for appointment times will be sent home within the next couple of weeks. Please keep an eye out for yours. Wednesday, June 7th & Thursday, June 8th have been set for the initial dates. They will be done afterschool/evening in the auditorium.
FINAL TRANSCRIPTS -- Seniors recently received Final Transcript Request forms (blue) in their homeroom. Final transcripts will be sent to colleges -- ONLY IF THEY ARE REQUESTED -- in Mid-July. Please bring the completed form AND $1 to Mrs. Carey in the counseling office before May 26th. If you are planning to attend a community college, they will need your final transcript also.
ATTENTION 10TH AND 11TH GRADE STUDENTS -- it is not too late to register for Personal Finance or Speech. Please see Mrs. Poker if you are interested in either MC class. Classes will be taught at DHS! Thank you. (poker)
ANNUAL PHYSICAL DAY FUNDRAISER -- The Swarmin' Hornets annual physical day fundraiser is quickly approaching on Wednesday, May 31st. Space is limited so make your appointment ASAP. Please see DeAnna Johnson in room 154 to schedule your appointment and pick up your necessary forms. Or email her at email@example.com if you have any questions. This is for all athletes and incoming freshman. $30.00 per person & $20 for each sibling!

DAMASCUS LIBRARY SUMMER READING VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT -- Damascus Library is seeking friendly High School students to help with the children’s and teen Summer Reading events. Student Service Learning Program hours will be earned. Damascus Library is located at 9701 Main Street, Damascus MD 20872.
• When: During weekly events from June 19 through August 31, 2017.
• Duties: Volunteers assist library staff with events for children and teens ages 3-17; tasks include auditorium/meeting room chair and table set-up and clean-up, ticket-taking, crowd control, materials preparation, assisting children and teens with crafts and experiments, and overseeing LEGO and DUPLO programs.
• Qualifications: You should be an energetic, polite, patient, articulate high school student (aged 13-up and finished 8th grade) who can commit to a regular weekly schedule throughout the summer; you should be able to follow directions, turn off your cell phone, have a good sense of humor and enjoy working with young children, teens, and their families. Enthusiasm for Harry Potter Cosplay required for 3 events.
• Application: Interested teens should visit Damascus Library to complete an application before May 22 to facilitate scheduling; parent signature required. Call Damascus Library at 240-773-9444 for more information; any staff member can help you.
SPORTS PLUS -- is an organization that offers year-round, uniquely structured, co-ed sports and social programs for verbal children able to follow multi-step directions between the ages of 5 and 14 with mild to moderate autistic spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. Both indoor and outdoor programs are offered. Volunteers assist coaches with activities, help with set-up and clean-up, and most of all, provide encouragement to the athletes. Expertise in a particular sport is NOT required, but enthusiasm is. More details can be found at www.playsportsplus.org. And if you want to volunteer with a friend, let her know so you can be scheduled together. Please only sign up for days you know you can commit to.
AMERICAN LEGION POST 171 IN DAMASCUS -- Looking for a few students willing to help out with Kitchen Duties on a regular basis (not just a one-time thing) on the first and/or third Thursday of each month during the school year. There are two shifts available: 4:00pm-7:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. You can work one or both Thursdays, and you can work one or both shift times. DAMASCUS COMMUNITY RECREATION CENTER -- Club Adventure after School Program – 3:00pm to 6:00pm (12:00pm to 6:00pm on half days). Volunteers will assist with teaching sports, games, arts, crafts, and assisting the current staff in mentoring children 5 to 12 years old.
