Damascus Horticulture Poinsettias

Students will be working extra hard to bring you a spectacular crop this year!
If you bought one last year you how fantastic they are!
They are $12 a plant or $10 each if you buy 2 or more. 4 – 6 blooms per plant and the price includes foil and a paper sleeve to protect them when traveling.

PAPER HOLIDAY SWEATER CONTEST

Want to participate in a fun holiday activity? Come to the media center during lunch and decorate your own paper holiday sweater! Students will vote today, and a winner will be announced tomorrow.

SPORTS

Ice Hockey had a hard hitting game on Friday against Sherwood. The game ended in a 4-4 tie. Congrats to Nick Mohardt who scored 2 goals!

Attention all football players: Meet in room 120 today during lunch from 11-12 to size and order your ring. See coach Wallich if you cannot make it. Bring a check, cash or credit card for a deposit of $50.

CLUB NEWS

The DHS Hornet Ambassadors is holding a Toy for Tots drive through Wednesday. Please bring in new and unwrapped toys to be donated to our local children’s hospital. Donation bins can be found in the main office and media center.

Students and Staff, Athletes & Coaches, Club Members & Sponsors…our DHS Acts of Random Kindness Club is still collecting used eyeglasses, old cellphones, small dead batteries and CFL bulbs, along with empty inkjet printer cartridges and Campbell Soup product labels as part of our Fall Service Project. Please help spread the word to your family, friends, and neighbors, and try to collect these items to drop off in Mr. Dickie’s room #134 by Fri., Dec. 22. Be part of doing selfless acts for others. Thanks!

It’s that time of year again for the LEO’s canned food drive through tomorrow. We are collecting can food items through the first period classes!!!! At the end we will be giving the winning first period class with the most cans collected a pizza party.

Students hoping to go to Senior Week at the Beach: Mark Your Calendar!
Beach Week Preparation and Survival Tips will be discussed on Jan 22 at 7 pm in the DHS Auditorium. Brought to you by the PTSA, Officer Howard Caplan of the Ocean City Police Department will discuss:
• What is Senior Week?
• Helpful tips to keep your teens safe
• Local ordinances and their corresponding fines/arrests
Parents, don't allow your students to go without hearing this information! This is a presentation for both Students and Parents. Underclassmen students and parents are invited as well!

SSL Hours: Winter break is a great opportunity to get involved in a service-learning project and earn Student Service Learning hours. Visit the MCPS website to find organizations and events that are already approved for MCPS SSL hours. Also, don’t forget that all service hours performed during the first semester must be turned in to the school’s SSL coordinator no later than Friday, Jan. 5, 2018. The DHS coordinator for SSL hours is Ms. Loulou.

ACTIVITY BUS – The activity bus will run every Wednesday and Thursday (except on early release days) beginning September 13, 2017 through May, 2018. Pick up is in front of the school by the flagpole at 4:30.
