The SSL Coordinator for 2011-2012 at DHS is Mrs. Lori Mayhew. Mrs. Mayhew can be reached in the Tech Office (Room 102) during 4th period at 301-253-7054 or after school in classroom 105. She can also be reached via email at Lori_L_Mayhew@mcpsmd.org

MAY:

Maryvale Elementary Spring Fling

-Do you need SSL Hours? If so, join us at Maryvale Elementary School for our 8th Annual Spring Fling Carnival and Silent Auction on Saturday, May 12th.

-We are located at 1000 1st Street in Rockville. We are right off of Gude Drive and Rt. 28th.

Help is needed:

*10-12 for set up

*12-4:30 to work a game (You pick the hours!)

*4:30-6:30 for clean up

Frederick Celtic Festival is at the Mt. Airy Carnival Grounds May 12th from 10 am - 6 pm and they need volunteers to help with taking tickets, handing out schedules and most of all some strong students to help with the athletic competitions. There will be professionals throwing the Braemar Stone, Heavy Weight, Light Weight, Heavy Hammer, Caber Toss and they need high school athletes who want to help retrieve (shag) the weights, stones, and cabers after the athletes toss them. This event will give the students an opportunity to hang around w/ professional athletes in a slightly different arena. It will be fun as well as educational.

They need a few students to travel around in a utility cart and collect the trash bags and deposit them at the dumpster

JUNE:

SSL Opportunity: Teen Volunteers (13+) WANTED at Camp Starlight to be camp counselors, unit leaders, and program presenters at a community outreach girl scout day camp, June 18-22, 2012-- 9 am-3pm in Silver Spring/Ashton area, bus transportation offered.

Students would help lead and teach camp programs for girls in our Maryland community ages 5-11. We give SSL Hours! This is a wonderful five days of fun and learning at a local site, serving 160 young girls in our community (not already girl scouts) to give them a camp experience. Camp training and planning sessions will be given. Campers also wanted (ages 5-11). All Interested: Contact Christina Blue at cblue@gscnc.org or 202-534-3798 for more information.
