Media Center Links to Learning
Mission Statement
The mission of the Damascus Cluster Library Media Program is to create lifelong learners and readers by providing an atmosphere conducive to learning, building a collection reflecting curricular needs and interests of the learning community, and collaborating with instructional staff to promote independent use of ideas and information. Collaboration, assessment, and evaluation will be an integral part of continuous improvement.
Purpose
The purpose of the Damascus Media Center is to support the instructional program. It is a specialized library with a collection of resources focused specifically on the units of instruction in the grades 9-12. Because of this focus, the media center will usually have more resources on curriculum topics than other libraries. Students are encouraged to make a thorough search of our resources before looking elsewhere.
Instructional Program
It is the goal of Damascus staff to have all students use the resources and services of the media center. The media specialist provides instruction to students after planning with classroom teachers to integrate media center objectives with current class assignments.
Media Center Expectations
All school rules are maintained in the media center. Even before and after school, the no hats and no headphones rules are in effect. We also ask that backpacks be kept off the floor. It is very important that NO FOOD or DRINK be brought into the Media Center.
Hours
The Media Center is opened from 7am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
