Daly ES has teamed up with the MCPD, represented by Community Outreach Officer Marcus Dixon, and the MCRD Plum Gar Recreation Center to provide a summer program targeted for Hispanic students.  Our goals are for both students and parents.  We aim to increase parental involvement in the school as well as their understanding of the school system, and  increase their knowledge of resources available for students.  It also gives them an opportunity to work with a Spanish speaking officer to increase their awareness and activeness in their community.  Students will meet once a week during the summer for two hours, and will participate in recreational activities such as sports skills and art, and will also learn about other safety issues at an age appropriate level, such as drugs and gangs.  It provides students an opportunity to stay connected with the school, build a positive relationship with both police and teachers, and to interact in an English speaking environment on a weekly basis.  Lockheed Martin in Germantown is providing some assistance to our program as well.
