We are always looking for parent and family volunteers who are interested in assisting students and teachers in the following areas:

  • Helping with various administrative tasks
  • Supporting school events or extra-curricular clubs
  • Leading a classroom read aloud
  • Listening to students' read aloud

This year, MCPS has implemented new guidelines for volunteers.  Please read the following information.

MCPS implemented a new policy this summer that requires all volunteers to take an online training module “Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect”  BEFORE volunteering at the school. The Online Training Module went live yesterday afternoon.  It takes about 30 minutes.  Here is the link to take the training:

Look for the orange box on the page and click:  "Online Training for Volunteers and Contractors:  Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect"

After you complete the online training, you will receive an email confirming that you have completed the module.

*You must print that email and bring it to the main office at Cresthaven BEFORE you can volunteer at the school.

This is an MCPS-wide policy.  While MCPS encourages  all community members to engage in this important, informative training, it is currently only required of individuals who REGULARLY support the school or student activities.  This requirement does not apply to those who help/support classroom parties, parades, or other ‘occasional’ volunteer opportunities that are directly supervised by MCPS staff. It also does not apply if you are volunteering at a PTA event outside of school hours.

If you have any questions regarding this new policy, please feel free to call the main office.
