The 2008-2009 school year will be the fourth year College Gardens
Elementary
School has offered a Chinese Immersion Program that all
students in Montgomery
County
are welcome to join. This year we
will have one class in each grade for K-4th.
In this partial immersion program, students invest approximately one half
of the
school day learning subjects such as social studies, science and math
in
Chinese.
The reading/language arts curriculum is taught in English. The
Chinese Immersion students are
taught the same curricula and participate
in
the same extra-curricular activities as the rest
of
the school.
Simplified
Chinese characters and Pinyin system
are used in this program.
