The Apprenticeship Program at KID Museum is modeled on successful mentor and explainer programs in world-renowned science centers across the country that cultivate youth as facilitators for a comprehensive educational experience. Apprentices will work directly with the lead artists and makers as well as the museum’s creative director and program managers to help deliver successful programming by directly assisting with the facilitation of STEAM-based workshops, programming activities, and museum exhibits. Apprentice applicants should possess a love of learning and a desire to engage with the public. In addition to earning Student Service Learning hours and being eligible for the President's Volunteer Service Award, Apprentices are able to build on skills that can benefit their future and be a part of a team that is becoming a significant resource to DC area families and children. In addition, we offer monthly professional development workshops on topics including how to write a great resume, woodshop skills, 3D printing, and electronics.
The deadline for applications is December 18 for the Spring session. The spring semester runs from February - June. Full details can found by visiting http://kid-museum.org/apprentice.
