Internship Program
The Internship Program is designed to provide an opportunity for a student to obtain first hand knowledge of a career or field of study. Internships provide the students an opportunity to apply what has been learned at school to the working world while guided by a mentor who helps impart additional workplace skills. Intern applicants do not need to find their own internship placement prior to acceptance in the program.
To Become an Intern You Must:
- Maintain regular attendance
- Be at the internship 8-12 hours a week
- Call the internship site when not able to attend
- Maintain a time sheet
- Keep a daily log
- Attend seminars once weekly during lunch
- Complete specified written assignments
- Prepare a presentation relating to the internship experience each semester

HOSTS Interns
HOSTS is an internship course designed for students in grades 11 and 12 who have satisfactorily achieved the goals and objectives in the entry-level courses of English, math, science, social studies, and foreign language. In general, the HOSTS interns will provide peer support to the entire class; however, occasionally, HOSTS interns will assist individual students. A HOSTS interns might help with note taking, reteaching of a concept, or providing another direct service to a student. This course provides the students serving as HOSTS tutors with the opportunity to earn internship credit and to develop the positive feelings of accomplishment that come from helping another person. The HOSTS interns meet monthly with the sponsor to discuss and share their experiences. HOSTS interns also complete a reflection statement at the end of each marking period and are also evaluated by the teachers with whom they are working.
