I was born in La Paz, Bolivia, and arrived in the US as a non-English speaking student just in time to start kindergarten in an MCPS school. This was before MCPS had ESOL classes. I spent most of that first year holding Pam's hand and hoping I did not get lost. This experience is probably what led me to becoming an ESOL teacher. I am a graduate of Mount Vernon College, now a part of George Washington University, and have a Master's degree in bilingual education. I truly enjoy working with the METS students because they have such diverse backgrounds and knowledge bases. I have two children. Sara is a recent college graduate (Franklin & Marshall) and Phillip is a senior at Emerson Prep in DC. My husband owns a custom frame store in Silver Spring.
