Extra Curricular Academic Enhancement

Cashell PTA provides money and volunteers to provide discounted field trips, book and science fairs, and additional classes in languages and the arts to encourage strong minds.

Cultural Arts

Besides providing subsidies for school trips, the arts at Cashell are enhanced with visits to school by professional musicians, poets, actors and historical re-enactors. A PTA volunteer reviews potential acts and then, in cooperation with the school staff, books the acts best suited to the arts integration plans that year. Contact: Kathy Toscano.

Foreign Language in Elementary School (FLES)

Classes in Spanish, French and Mandarin Chinese are offered to students, for a fee, in the morning before school begins. Contact: Meredith Singer.

Science Fair

We have no winner at the annual Cashell Science Fair. Instead, scientists from our community (many of them Cashell parents) visit our students' displays. Our junior scientists get to speak with professional scientists about their project and about how science is done. Plus, someone usually make a volcano. Contacts: Elizabeth McAndrew-Benavides.

Book Fairs

Tricia Resnick, David Mayle and a team of volunteers bring the Scholastic Book Fair comes to campus twice per year. Each class visits the fairs, and one evening of each fair is open to families. Students may use the Book Fair Bucks they have earned through the winter and summer reading programs to save money on their purchases.  Contacts: Tricia Resnick, Chris Kohout.

Young Rembrandts

Young Rembrandts is an after-school arts class in which students may enroll for a fee. Contact: Sarah Perry.
