Mrs. Leber Physical Education Teacher The weather is finally starting to
look like spring. Just
a quick safety reminder that all students must wear sneakers on their P.E. day. No sandals or shoes that can easily fall off.
During the last 9 weeks students did not work on dribbling the ball with
their hands as we intended. Instead we
worked on throwing and catching in a pattern while trying to juggle. All students will work on dribbling with
their hands during the final 9 weeks when we can go outside and utilize the
baskets on the playground. Pre-K news We will start the nine weeks out with
dribbling the ball with our hands and learning how to dribble in our own space
with either hand. Then we will try and
move with the ball while dribbling.
Next, we will start to use the skills that we have learned this year to
play low organized games. Students will
develop an understanding of rules, fair play and being a good winner and a good
loser. Kindergarten,
1st and 2nd grade news We
start the nine weeks by working on dribbling the ball with our hands, and
passing the ball to a partner. We will
then work on volleying. We will work on
the bump and underhand serve. In May we will start to review to get ready for Field Day. To end the year we will play low organized
games using the skills that we have learned all year. 3rd

grade news We will start the nine weeks by
working on dribbling the ball with our hands, passing, shooting and
defense. Volleying comes next. Students will learn how to bump, set, spike,
and underhand serve. In May we’ll review
games for Field Day. After Field Day we
will work on our fitness. We will
develop an understanding of different fitness components and participate in a
circuit. At the end of the year we will
participate in low organized games that include skills that we have been
working on all year. 4th and 5th grade Bike safety The second week of May the 4th
and 5th graders will be tested on their bike safety knowledge and
their biking skills. Representatives
from Washington Area Bicycle Association are coming with a trailer full of
bikes and helmets. Each student will
ride a bike through a bike rodeo where they will display their biking skills
and learn how to be safe on the road. Family Bike day at Lake Needwood Join us Saturday, May 14, 2005 from
