Kindergarten

October Letter

Dear Kindergarten Parents

Fall has arrived and the kindergarteners are excited about all our activities involving the fall season. We have begun our Apple Unit. We will integrate apple themes into our study of math, science, and writing.

Math
We will continue our unit on patterning, sorting, tallying, graphing and position words (before, after, above, below, middle, top and bottom). We will be checking for understanding in these areas.

Social Studies
The children will learn basic map and globe skills. We will be identifying land, water, and various regions on the map and globe.

Science
We will be discussing seasonal changes in autumn. As part of this unit we will be going to Larriland Farm.

Language and Writing
The children have been introduced to their own alphabet word books in which they will be reading and writing throughout the year. We are practicing our word wall words: I, am, here, see, to, and, like, me, & the. We've practiced reading and writing them in class. We are also beginning to write our names using lower and upper case letters.

Volunteers
Thank you to those who have had the opportunity to volunteer both in and out of the class. We wouldnt be able to do so many of our projects without your help!
