Fifth Grade
by Ms. Ng and Ms. Duarte
October was a very busy month!
In reading we have continued to work on historical fiction novels, and have also been analyzing story elements and character motivation. We will soon begin working with poetry and will also do some author studies.
In writing we have completed several pieces, mainly writing from personal experience. In math we have completed our first Unit assessments and are now beginning to work on Unit 2, which deals with geometry and measurement. In social studies we have been learning about eras in US history and movements, like the labor movement, the civil rights movement, the health and safety movement and the women’s movement, across these eras. In science we are continuing to work with forces and motion. We also enjoyed a wonderful Halloween parade and a great Halloween party in the APR. Fifth graders enjoy this privilege.
We are looking forward to seeing all parents for conferences on November 11th and 12th. The students have worked hard during this quarter, and we will be happy to highlight their efforts.
As November draws to a close we will look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving and spending some time with our families.
