Dear Parents,
Parent Conferences
By now you should have received a letter through your child's backpack confirming the time and date of your Parent Conference on either November 11 or November 12. If you have not made or received an appointment time, please call your child's teacher or the school office to make one. Report cards will be sent home with the students on November 11, and it is very important that you communicate with your child's teacher about any concerns or questions you might have about his/her academic progress.
Attendance is Directly Linked to Achievement
Parents who let their kids miss a lot of school are setting them up for school failure. Researcher Mary Frase studied students who had dropped out of high school. She found that nearly all of them had poor attendance records.
An important way you can promote your child’s academic success is to get him or her to school on time every day. The start of a new school year is the time to help your child make this habit. Follow these tips:
-
Enforce a regular bedtime for your child
-
Make sure your child is organized so he or she can get out the door with what they need
-
Remember that everything you add to a schedule means something must be taken away. For example, if you add lots of before- and after-school activities, you take away time for your child to read, play and study.
Some kids can handle a busier schedule. But if youth sports leave your child too tired to do homework or to get up in the morning, it’s time to cut back.
Reminders:
-
When money is sent to the Café for student lunch accounts, please make checks out to: Cannon Road Café and ensure that the date on the check is the current date.
-
If money sent to the Café is to be “split” between two siblings lunch accounts, please clearly indicate how much money should go into each child’s account.
-
Low-balance letters for student lunch accounts are sent home once a week, please check your child’s backpack for this important information.
-
After School Call-In for Spanish speaking parents is again available on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3:15 and 4:00 p.m. CRES Spanish speaking staff members will take your calls and questions and they will determine who can help you and forward your question to the appropriate staff member.

Make-up Picture day is scheduled for November 13th. If your child was absent on the original date for photographs, he/she will have their picture taken on Make-up Day for their student records. Order forms are available in the Main Office if families would like to purchase photographs. Also, if you are unhappy with the photographs that were taken previously, return the packet of photos on this day and your child will have their picture re-taken.
Queridos padres:
