About this Assignment
Last year, Cabin John Middle School decided to establish a new tradition. We asked our student writers to submit poetry, short stories, memoirs or any written work for our Literary Café. Student musicians were also invited to participate. Red-checked tablecloths, tiny lights, café posters, flowers, hot chocolate and light snacks all transformed our media center into a true café. The student writers did a wonderful job sharing their work with the audience. It was a very memorable event, and we decided to make this an annual tradition at Cabin John Middle School. After a resounding success in 2008, students returned this year to marvel their audience even with works of great depth, beauty and with personal meaning. Enjoy!
