About this Assignment
For the eighth grade Unit, Explorations (Part II), students were asked to research a community issue which they were passionate about, and take a stand on their issue. Topics the students selected could be significant to the local, state, or, even, the national community. Students were tasked with persuading their audience (in this case, their peers) to agree with their position on their issue.

Students have used both print and online resources to locate relevant information. They were required to look at, and examine, opposing viewpoints. Students used the persuasive techniques of ethos, pathos, and logos to refute opposing arguments and defend their point of view.

CJMS students are pleased to present CougarCasts in which they discuss issues that affect their lives. Learn more about this Persuasive Speech assigment.
