Parent/Community Volunteers Needed!
CJMS Counseling Advisory Committee is proud to introduce our Monthly Career Lunches. We would like to collect contact information for any parent or adult in the community who would like to present & stimulate the minds of our sixth, seventh, & eighth graders, regarding your profession. We’ll guide you on the structure of the one day visit (during all three lunch periods), and welcome any profession! We would be happy to offer assistance on the best way to present your exciting career in a kid friendly way! Please contact Tiffany_A_Goldstein@mcpsmd.org if you are available, know of someone else who would be interested, or would like more details.
The Cabin John Middle School Counseling Advisory Committee (CAC) Needs You!
The Counseling Advisory Committee (CAC) is a representative group of CJMS staff, parents, and students who meet periodically to support and enhance the schools counseling and guidance needs. The CAC has facilitated such school-wide activities as the following:
- The collection of essential supplies, food and clothing for a local homeless shelter.
- The encouragement of kind deeds through the "Looking Good" and “Fishing for Treasures” programs.
- The making and displaying of posters advertising "No Name Calling Week".
- The exploration of strategies to reduce bullying and teasing school-wide.
The CAC strives to make a positive difference at Cabin John Middle School. The CAC needs parent and student representation on the committee. If you and/or your child would like to be a part of the CAC, please contact Cora Neighbors, CJMS counselor, at (301) 469-1160 or email her at Cora_Neighbors@mcpsmd.org

Best Buddies at Cabin John
Best Buddies is a non-profit organization established in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver. The mission of Best Buddies is to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships. In middle school, Best Buddies operates as a student-run friendship club, which creates buddy pairs between students with and without disabilities. Members of Best Buddies make a commitment to communicate with their buddy once a week via email, telephone, or at school. The club will plan at least four group activities outside of school such as pizza parties, bowling outings, kickball games, and ice cream socials. If you are interested in becoming a member of Best Buddies or want more information, please sign up at the attendance office or see Ms. Elena Schneider in room 135.
