H1N1 UPDATE:
Thank you for your support in communicating with the school the reasons for your child’s absence(s). The three day weekend for students has provided an opportunity for students to rest and focus on getting better if they are sick. The PTSA has graciously purchased hand sanitizers that are being placed throughout the building. We would like to encourage parents to continue to monitor their children for signs of secondary infections/illness. Such signs would include persistent coughing, severe sore throat or gastrointestinal upset. Contacting your pediatrician is advisable. Teachers will be determining make-up work plans that can be appropriately adjusted based on the student's extended absence and return to school.

Please continue to follow the three step process to follow when your child is sick:

1. Call the school if your child is diagnosed with H1N1 (Swine Flu or Flu A). Main Office: 301-469-1150 Health Room: 301-770-8025

2. Students are expected to stay home for 24 hours after their fever is gone. Their fever should be gone without them having taken a fever-reducing medicine. A fever is defined as 100 degrees Fahrenheit or 37. 8 degrees Celsius.

3. Please have your child report to the health room (prior to report to their first period class) upon their return to school with a note regarding their absence. Be sure to include your child's name and dates absent.

Thank you for supporting us by following this important process. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse, Ms. Brienne McCabe at 301-770-8025.
