CJMS Students Raise Funds for Puerto Rico
We are pleased to announce that the 7th and 8th grade students of Cabin John Middle School will be working throughout the month of March to raise funds for Puerto Rico's Hurricane Maria victims. All donations will go to the charity organization, Friends of Puerto Rico.
On March 5th, Jose Ortiz-Gaud, a task force member for Friends of Puerto Rico will come speak to the student body about how donations will benefit Puerto Ricans on the island.
March 6th-March 13th social studies classes will compete against each other in "Quarter Wars." For this fundraising activity, students will bring in change and bills
to donate to collection jars.
On March 14th, California Tortilla of Cabin John Mall will be hosting a Spirit Night event. During this event, all customers who say our code word “Cabin John”, will have 25% of their total checks donated to benefit Friends of Puerto Rico. Remember to say "Cabin John" at checkout.
On March 19th, PE and Spanish students will join forces in "Millas Por Puerto Rico." All 7th and 8th grade students will be encouraged to donate $5 and run (or walk) a mile for Puerto Rico. Students will create banners in Spanish and English and wear red to show their support for Puerto Rico. The Handsmiths, an authentic band of drummers and musicians, will be on site to encourage the runners with upbeat, Latino music.
Anyone interested in getting involved as a sponsor, member of the press, or volunteer should contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
