Basketball Shootout The countywide basketball shootout competition is for all middle school students and will begin Tuesday September 4, 2007 after school from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. The program will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of each week. The semifinals will be held on Monday October 15th at Kingsview Middle School and the final countywide championships will be held at Magruder High School at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls and boys will compete in three events: free throws, 30-second shooting, and a hot shot competition. Students may compete in one event only. One girl and one boy winner from each grade in each event will advance to the regional competition. Two regional winners in each event will advance to the final competition. Last year Cabin John was well represented at the final competition. The students must have the following to participate in the basketball shootout: They must be academically eligible. They must fill out a parent permission form (available in PE). They must have paid their activity fee of $30 over the summer (forms also available in PE). An activity bus will be provided for all students on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (transportation to Kingsview and Magruder provided by parent/guardian).
