Dear Brookhaven Elementary School Students, Families, and Community
I am extremely excited to return to the
Brookhaven community as the principal for the 2017–2018 school year. As principal, my mission is to create a school
environment where every student can continue to receive a rigorous, engaging
and high-quality educational experience and one in which every teacher is
equipped with the tools and support to provide students with a strong, rich and
rewarding learning experience that will result in their academic success.
It is an honor to work with the
Brookhaven community where I proudly served as an assistant principal for four
years. My most recent administrative assignment has been as principal intern at
Weller Road Elementary School. I began my teaching career within Montgomery
County Public Schools in 2000, where I spent eleven years as a classroom
teacher followed by three years in the role of math content coach.
As the proud parent of two school aged
children, ages 4 and 12, I recognize the importance of a strong home/school
connection. Parents and guardians are every child’s first teacher. I believe
that if we partner together we will build a positive parent-teacher
relationship that contributes to your child’s academic, social, and emotional
needs being met in their school learning community.
The success of each child will continue
to be Brookhaven’s main priority under my leadership. This success can only be achieved through a
collaborative environment. I look forward to working very closely with
Brookhaven’s leadership team and Ms. Cheryl L. Smith, Director of School
Support and Improvement of Elementary Schools, in the Office of School Support
and Improvement, to ensure that we are prepared
for the upcoming school year. The strong foundation of excellence that exists
at Brookhaven Elementary School is one that I know first-hand and one that I
consider a great privilege to be trusted to build upon.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve
the Brookhaven Bobcats family in this capacity. I encourage you to stop in and
introduce yourself, as my door is always open and I am here to support you in
any way possible.
