The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse, located in Iowa City, Iowa, handles registration to determine a student’s initial eligibility to play sports at a Division I or Division II college or university. Seniors are encouraged to register early with the Clearinghouse online at: www.ncaaclearinghouse.net. Click on "Prospective Student-Athletes" and then "Information and Resources for Prospective Student-Athletes."
Effective June 29, 2009, the NCAA Eligibility Center will unveil a new student-athlete website and registration process for college-bound athletes planning to enroll in Fall 2010 and later. The new web address is www.NCAAstudent.org. The student should click on the "Guide" tab. Be sure to read over the "Guide for the College-Bound Student-Athlete," or download the guide and print it out for future reference.
You must request that your transcripts be sent to the Clearinghouse directly by your high school Registrar. The student's test scores must be electronically sent to the NCAA Clearinghouse as well. When registering for the SAT or ACT, request that a score report be sent to the NCAA Eligibility Center (enter code 9999). There is a fee for registering with the Clearinghouse and you may pay by credit card online. Fee waivers are available to all students who have received a SAT or ACT fee waiver. The H.S. athletic director or career coordinator must assist with applying online for a student fee waiver. The Clearinghouse customer service telephone number is 1-877-262-1492; representatives are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday.
Students must provide a copy of the NCAA application to the Registrar in order for the paperwork to be processed.
