Trapezoid – a quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides

 

 

 

 


Parallelogram – a quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides

 

 

 

 


Rhombus – a quadrilateral with 4 congruent sides

 

 

 

 

 


Rectangle – a quadrilateral with 4 right angles

 

 

 

 

 


Square – a quadrilateral with 4 congruent sides (rhombus) and 4 right angles (rectangle)

 

 

 

 

 

 


Properties of Parallelograms

 

1.  Opposite sides of a parallelogram are congruent.

 

2.  Opposite angles of a parallelogram are congruent.

 

3.  Diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other.

 

4.  Consecutive angles of a parallelogram are supplementary.

 

5.  A rhombus is a parallelogram.

6. The diagonals of a rhombus are perpendicular.

 

7.  A rectangle is a parallelogram.

 

8.  The diagonals of a rectangle are congruent.

 

9.  A square is a parallelogram, a rectangle, and a rhombus.

 

10.  The diagonals of a square bisect each other, are congruent, and are perpendicular.
