NAACP PARENT COUNCIL 2018 Black History Month Celebration
This year, the Blake NAACPPC Welcome our Blake HS Students to celebrate this year's Black History Month by participating in a variety of activities that showcase their passions and talents.
Below are the categories. Students can compete in either or both:
A. Short Essay or Poem (Choose one) Deadline February 23. Essays/poems will be reviewed by the
NAACPPC reps and volunteer teachers from the Social Studies department. Essays will be posted on
the website and promoted for use in NAACPPC marketing material. Top prize essay/poem will receive
a $25 cash prize.
- It’s been 50 years since Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated. What does his legacy mean to you? Do you see hope for the future?
- How do you see race relations in the United States over the past 50 years progressing or not?
B. Logo for Blake HS NAACPPC: Deadline February 23.
It’s time we showed our Blake Bengal pride and promote our NAACPPC message with our own logo.
Help us by designing a logo that will capture the historical message of the movement. Hint: go to the MC
NAACP website at www.naacppc-md.org for background information. If selected, the student will
receive a $25 cash prize
