Teacher Awards

Each year there are opportunities to recognize the outstanding work our teachers do to support our students. Here are two of those opportunities:

Washington Post Teacher of the Year (Formerly the Agnes Myers Award recognizes one MCPS teacher. The goals of the program are to recognize excellence in teaching, encourage creative and quality instruction, and contribute in a substantive way to improving education in the Washington metropolitan area. More information can be found at http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/personnel/awards/Washington-Post-Teacher-of-the-Year-Award/

There is also the Marian Greenblatt Excellence in Education Awards. These awards recognize three teachers (grades K-12) who have demonstrated a record of promoting student success, such as closing the achievement gap. One master teacher from MCPS goes on to represent MCPS in the state teacher of the year competition, and could go on to the national teacher of the year competition. There is also the Rising-Star teacher award recognizing a first-, second-, third-, or fourth- year full-time teacher who has demonstrated record of promoting student success.
