Digital Art 1 Curriculum
Note to Parents:
All of the lessons produced in the digital arts lab are intended to expand upon the students understading of the production of art as a creative and unique endever. As such, students are required to produce all parts of the images and animations using original images and ideas. Photographs, graphics and concepts are created as part of the project and integrated into the final piece through collage, computer blending and other forms of imaging.


Curriculum is linked to titles of each lesson and may be saved as an Adobe Acrobat file. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Ilustrator, Adobe Indesign and Macromedia Bryce are the software packages used for these lessons.

Digital Restoration

Student learn basic techniques for using rubber stamp, dodge, burn and dust and scratches filter.

Self Portrait  
Art and Human Experience Students experiment with files and filters to create a document of an American Icon

CD Design

Working with selection tools and layers students collage together images to form a thematic design.

Value Drawings

Understanding value and composition are fundamental in all fine arts and are vital to digital designers working in digital arts.

Landscape Painting

Painting landscapes using the computer is explored using Corel Painter software.

Working with Painter software, student used contours and shading to create these portraits

Contemporary Self Portrait

Many filters and techniques are explored using Photoshop. Working with digital camera, students composed images with unique angles and texture effects.

Business Card - Logo Design

Logos design, typography and corporate branding discussed in this graphics assignement. The design includes three parts- card, letterhead and envelope designs.

Public Service Poster

The art program considers community service as a important part of the curriculum. Advertising, graphic design and the art of advertising toward an audience is studied as studetns produce public service posters.

Vector Design

Vector based graphics are created using pen tools from photographs that the students created. Objectives include working with shape as an element in art and design.

Brochure Design

Students worked with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop to create multi-page document as a culminating activity.

Surrealism
and Perspective

One, two or three point perspective drawings are created at location and concepts of surrealism and image distortion are used to produce digital collages.

Students design a lesson of their own using software of their choice.

Composite
Self- Portrait

Software Instructions

Working with 3-D environments and PhotoShop filters, students will create a composite of images from different software including Bryce and Photoshop. Theme development, composition and unity in art are covered in this project.
