2008‑2009 STRATEGIC PLANThe PTSA will strive to enhance the high school experience for all Blake students.Goal 1: Prioritize involvement in PTSA by parents, teachers, students, and the community.
- Offer regular monthly meetings for membership participation.
- Increase membership by including more parents, students, and staff.
- Outreach to all members of the Blake Community
- Encourage both vertical and societal integration in all activities.
- Reward students, volunteers, and staff for service to the PTSA.
- Establish an extensive network of volunteers for committees and functions.
- Partner with other school organizations to maximize involvement.
- Partner with Staff and Administration to support activities as requested.
- Encourage participation in NEC, MCCPTA, and Maryland PTA activities.
Goal 2: Provide effective communication for parents, students, and staff.
- Make PTSA Officers available and visible within in the school.
- Liaise between parents, students, faculty and staff on school issues and challenges.
- Disseminate urgent information in the most appropriate manner.
- Prepare and distribute the Blake Directory/Handbook.
- Partner with Blake Staff to maintain an informative PTSA web page on the Blake web site.
- Utilize an effective electronic bulletin, (Eubie Mail) to provide weekly updates of activities.
- Distribute a high quality, monthly newsletter to the Blake community.
Goal 3: Provide appropriate resources to enable parents and students to make informed choices on relevant concerns.
- Increase programming during PTSA Meetings on community and school related issues.
- Encourage special programs for parents, students, and teachers on designated topics (ex., driving, substance abuse, parenting, job and college information).
- Raise funds and community support sufficient to subsidize programs and projects.
- Provide web links on PTSA web page to resource sites.
Goal 4: Support Blake High School by providing meaningful activities, opportunities, and assistance.
- Provide network of volunteers to support identified school needs.
- Promote National PTA programs at Blake.
- Maintain good relations and acknowledge the contributions of the School Staff through recognition programs throughout the year.
- Encourage community building by sponsoring activities such as, the After Prom Celebration, Comedy Night, The Arts and Humanities Festival’s Silent Auction, The Blake Renaissance Program, Back to School Night and other student and staff functions.
- Track and support legislative action that impacts the Blake community, as well as, Northeast Consortium, National and State educational issues.
- Recognize and encourage the spirit of volunteerism to benefit the Blake community as embodied by PTSA volunteers by awarding a scholarships.
- Establish and maintain effective pubic relations through appropriate communications with community newspapers.
