The end of another year is approaching and some of our listserv
members' students will be graduating. The listserv does not
automatically remove those who will no longer have a student at Blake.

If you will not have a student at Blake High School next year, you may

Dear Blake Community,

Please plan to attend the PTSA meeting Tuesday May 20 at 7:00pm in the
media center. Committees for next year will be forming, elections for
new executive committee members will take place and there will be a
presentation by the organization Project Change.

PROJECT CHANGE (PC) is an Olney-based teen/adult nonprofit whose
mission is to improve opportunities for youth in the Greater Olney
area to become engaged, contributing and satisfied members of their
community. Our organization received a very generous grant from the
Carl M. Freeman Foundation last fall. This grant, a tribute to the
late Joshua M. Freeman, will allow PC to expand its work in the areas
of community service and philanthropy.

Currently we are working on our first major initiative, the Community
Service Network (CSN), which is being designed with the help of teens
from 5 local public and private high schools in the area (Blake HS,
Magruder HS, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Sandy Spring Friends School ,
Sherwood HS). Once completed, CSN will provide quality SSL outreach,
education, and experiences for youth in the greater Olney area. PC
already has completed the production of a professional video about SSL
for which students from all 5 schools in the greater Olney area were
interviewed. This video was created to show to students at the
participating schools. CSN is an ambitious undertaking which we hope
will become a model for communities throughout the U.S.

The teens have created a power point to present to PTSA's to inform
parents and teachers about this exciting new initiative. They asked
me to contact you to see if there is room on the April or May agenda
for a short 10-15 presentation. They would be delighted if you could
squeeze them in….

Seniors - Graduation Details

Caps and gowns, along with graduation tickets, will be distributed
after the 1st period exam on May 28th in the amphitheater from 8:30 -
11:30 AM

Seniors must bring a picture id to pick up graduation items. Again,
all obligations must be paid in order to receive your cap, gown, and
graduation tickets.

If you have not yet ordered a cap and gown, Jostens will be available
on May 28th. You can purchase your cap and gown then with a $60 cash
payment

Please note that the Finale Concert on Thursday May 22 begins at
7:00pm NOT 7:30pm as previously indicated.

Congratulations to the Blake Track and Field students for all of their
hard work and dedication displayed in the recent Track Meet Events.
At the MCPS County 4-A West Region Championships, several students
placed in the top four in their events and will head to the Morgan
State University MPSSAA State Championship on May 23, 24.
