Blake High School Implements New Speakers’ Forum
James Hubert Blake High School is pleased to announce that local business leaders Paul Albrecht and Loren Danielson will be featured at a Speakers’ Forum developed for students in Career Academies. The presentations will take place in the Blake Auditorium at 8:20 A.M. on February 21, 2007. Mr. Albrecht is Vice President and Sales Representative at Marlow Sports, which generates seven million dollars annually in sales in the Washington Metropolitan area. His company specializes in sales to local high schools, college and professional teams. Loren Danielson is Senior Vice President, Ferris Baker Watts, Inc., the largest full-service brokerage firm headquartered in Washington, D.C. He has been with the firm for 26 years and serves on its retail advisory board. Both speakers will address the issue of ethics in business. The Speakers’ Forum is a new addition to the academy programs offered at Blake High School. Guest speakers from Blake’s business partnerships meet monthly with academy students to share their perspectives on relevant topics or issues. The school academies provide an opportunity for students to complete coursework related to career themes in preparation for future education and career paths. The Speakers’ Forum is one of several career exploration activities that link academy students to the business community, along with project mentorship, job shadowing, and internships. Academies offered at Blake High School are: Arts and Communications, Business and Consumer Services; Humanities and Public Service; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. |
