Carole C. Goodman , principal of James Hubert Blake High School is this year’s recipient of the Dr. Edward Shirley Award for Excellence in Educational Administration and Supervision
Purposeful and instructional leadership, human resource development, resource management, interpersonal skills, and professional, community and stakeholder involvement are some of the criteria used to select Carole C. Goodman as the winner.
Mrs. Goodman, a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, has worked for Montgomery County Public Schools since 1973. She was an art teacher from 1973-1989, assistant principal at Col. Zadok Magruder High School 1989-1992, principal at Herbert Hoover Middle School 1992-1997, and the principal of James Hubert Blake High School since its opening 9 years ago.
The Shirley Award was created by the Montgomery County Association of Administrative and Supervisory Personnel (MCAASP) in 2003 to honor Dr. Edward Shirley, a former MCPS educator, principal and administrator for more than 30 years, now the Superintendent of Schools in Caroline County.
“I am humbled by honor. I truly appreciate that I have the opportunity to work with a fabulous staff, amazing students and a wonderful and supportive community. I still look forward to going to school each and every day” says Mrs. Goodman
Mrs. Goodman will receive the award at the Champions for Children Gala on April 26 th.
