BLAKE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WIN TWO AWARDS AT INTERNATIONAL STUDENT MEDIA FESTIVAL

Two Blake High School student media projects will be featured at the 2006 International Student Media Festival in Dallas, Texas.  Graphic T’s ,a  film investigating the growing popularity of graphic t-shirts and why teens find them so appealing, produced by Taylor Tomczyszyn, Jacob Feldman, Amanda Paunil, and Laila Yette was a winning entry in the Live Action category.  In the Animation category Watch Out For Eubie TV, a claymation promotion for Blake High School’s daily news show, created by Neil Thorsen, Jonathon Rosenberry, Tyler Nerrret, and Tommy Donaghue was a winning entry.

Beginning in 1974, the Association for Educational Communications & Technology has sponsored the International Student Media Festival, celebrating outstanding classroom media projects.  Students and teachers from kindergarten through college are honored at the festival.  Every year thousands of students, from across the country as well as overseas produce media for educational purposes, dramatic use and web publication. These projects such as live action video, website design, animation and photography foster learning across the curriculum.

The Festival, October 10-12, 2006 in Dallas, Texas, is a three day event whose purpose is to recognize the excellent media projects created by students in the 2005-2006 school year and includes workshops, screenings of winning entries, and an awards ceremony.

Over the past 32 years the ISMF has grown to be one of the oldest and largest events of its kind.
